Finding Hope in Challenging Times

Listening and acting on the calls of our soul is not a one-time thing, it is a way of life. It requires that we prioritize the connection, trust the guidance we receive and act on it each and every day.
                                                                               Rebecca Campbell

Each month, we share insights, inspiration, and all the ways the cycles of the Great Mandala uplift and support you.  We draw upon the metaphors and messages of each season to explore and celebrate our individual and collective personal growth journeys.

Life goes in circles...all aspects of life...expansion, contraction, every part is equal, valued, necessary to be in balance...

The seasonal cycles play a significant role in our daily lives, influencing our moods, energy levels, and overall well-being. The annual and monthly Co-Creative Mandalas have a vibration that anchors, activates specific qualities, and represents something about the natural world and the energy in the universe at a particular time. The mandalas support aligning ourselves with the natural rhythms of the Great Mandala and  enhance our sense of connection--within, with each other, and the world.

This month's mandala is Guidance.

This Co-Creative Mandala, Guidance, is from a photograph of a dahlia (symbolizes empowerment) and is associated with all the chakras. This mandala encourages you to listen to your inner wisdom. It reminds you that you have an amazing light within you. You are a powerful being and only you can fulfill your purpose. Everyone has a purpose and it's time for you to acknowledge yours. When you accept your power and trust your intuition you will make a difference in the world.

While finding our purpose is serious business, it serves us and the planet to take some time for having fun, too! Summertime, for many, means finding joy in the little things. The sun on our faces, the buzzing bees hovering over flowers in the garden, or the burst of sweetness from a juicy bite of  peach. Warm nights, long days, the list goes on. Summer may also be the season of minor annoyances like sticky car rides and mosquitos, or more intense adversity, like wildfires and heavy rain.

You, your soul, chose a powerful time to be alive--the Great Awakening--it's being called. There is a global shift happening, everything is changing, possibly more than at any time on the planet and within humanity. It's an exciting time. You may notice that there are times when it’s not easy (can you spell Mercury Retrograde?!!).  Trying to remain in control of  changing situations can test the limits of strength and patience. Sometimes, despite my preferences, circumstances  shift in unpredictable and even undesirable ways. The more I try to exert control, the more frustrated and exasperated feel.  Even so, like many people I've talked with, I know the changes, and even the challenges, are necessary for personal and planetary evolution.  So much that’s been hidden and  dormant is coming to the surface for us to witness, honor, and let go of within ourselves and the collective.

Let's back up for a moment and define the word "soul’. It's called by many names--Buddha nature, higher self, spirit, intuition, guidance, and being--to name a few. To me it means that part of each us that carries ancient wisdom, is connected to the intelligence that directs the life force within--in nature, the seasons, and in physical beings, in the perfect timing for flowers to bloom, and for the caterpillar to become a butterfly.  Each soul chooses to be here in this life, in this body, on this planet, at this time. It's the part of us that holds lifetimes of wisdom and is always calling us toward our most expansive, aligned life.

Everyone’s journey here on Earth is unique. To incarnate at this time is a courageous thing to do. We each hold a thread for remembering our wholeness and contributing to the healing of humanity and the planet. Don’t underestimate the one you’re holding.

I know how it feels to be part of the healing journey, for myself and for humanity. You may be feeling a sense of purpose, knowing that you and each of us are holding an important thread for weaving this amazing new tapestry. It can feel overwhelming as you search for the part you came here to play in this magnificent evolution of consciousness we're witnessing.  And, you may be feeling hopeful in the midst of it all.

These are times that call for leaning into our most expansive, aligned self. Simply put, I believe our purpose on the planet is to experience and extend love as a way of restoring balance in the world. How we do that is as up to each of us. During these times when there are so many distractions, loud voices and messages from outside ourselves, it's important to connect with and develop a relationship with our soul, our deepest knowing. When we commit to showing up, to listening to, and acting on the whispers of our guidance we ground ourselves in hope, even in challenging times. Your curiosity, openness and willingness to listen are what truly matter.

On a personal note--my partner recently experienced a series of health crises that at times left him unable to communicate verbally. Thankfully, he's healing and all signs are pointing toward a complete recovery. But in the midst of the worst of it, I was overwhelmed with a full range of emotions. I recall one moment, sitting beside my partner, when I reached my capacity for holding all the sadness and fear that welled up from the depths of my being. I felt lost and confused and  out of control and waaay out of my depth. I remember silently asking for help. I think I mumbled something about how f**kd up everything was and I doubted it would get any better.  Without missing a beat, my non-verbal, amazing partner said "Have faith". You know when you hear Truth, the world stops spinning and time stands still. That was it, that was all I needed to hear in that moment. Those simple, yet profound words, shifted everything from insurmountable challenges to hopeful optimism. I felt a calmness wash over me. And not just in that moment. Over the past few weeks, those two words, have supported and inspired us through some pretty tough times.

Guidance speaks to us in whispers, in signs, visions, dreams, the "still, small voice within" and invites us to live in alignment with our purpose.  Our experience is just one example. Guidance is always available, ready to be experienced in the simplest and most difficult circumstances. Guidance is stable and grounding. It gives us an anchor to our wisdom, to our wholeness and to hope.

How has guidance shown up in your life recently?

Guidance is something we all have and it's so important to consistently open to it and act on the guidance we receive.  There are many processes and ways to stay open to guidance. Rebecca Campbell offers the following The Three Steps to Living A Soul Led Life for connecting with, listening to, and acting on your guidance, your deepest wisdom:

1. Cultivate daily practices (the length of time isn't as important as being consistent) that invite connection to your soul: Meditation, chanting, gardening, walking, journaling--painting, poetry, music...anything that you do daily to increase your capacity to listen to and feel your inner guidance. The connection to your soul will deepen and expand with daily, consistent practice.

2. Invest your attention and intention toward holding space for tuning in and receiving guidance. Rebecca uses a method called Soul Inquiry which asks simple, open ended questions that open your heart and mind to receive the messages. Ask a question that your soul would like you to know the answer to. Think of what you need to know for your highest good or the highest good of others. Examples include: "What do I need to know about finding (or living) my purpose?" "What is one small step I can take in that direction?" I've found that using
Co-Creative Mandala Oracle Cards is a wonderful tool for focusing and receiving guidance.

Once you’ve asked for guidance, go out into the world and listen! You'll be amazed at all the ways the messages show up--overhearing a conversation that answers your question or hearing a song that speaks directly to your situation. Many people find guidance and comfort simply by being present and open to the experience. Trust that the guidance meant for you will come through in some form.

3. Take action toward bringing that guidance to the world. All the intuition won't make a difference unless we act on it. Even if the guidance you receive doesn't make sense or seems out of reach,  listening, trusting, and taking one small step in that direction will transform your life.

When you connect with your guidance often enough,  learn to ask the questions in a way that really looks to your highest good for support, and take small steps toward following your guidance life gets easier. I hope like me, you're experiencing what a gift it is to trust your guidance.

May your days be filled with wisdom, inspiration and HOPE.
