Co-Creative Mandalas
The Co-Creative Mandala Story
The Magic of Serendipity. If you told me when I was in my 50s, enjoying a career as a counselor/academic advisor in higher education, that I'd find a fun and fulfilling post-retirement career, I wouldn't have believed you. If you’d added that I would be creating amazing artwork from photographs I take and offering them as a way for people to rediscover and embrace their deepest selves, I probably would have laughed out loud. Seriously. Well, maybe not...but the journey from there to where I am now has been pretty radical.
So, how did I get from there to where I am today? Serendipity: finding something pleasant and valuable I wasn't looking for.
For a few yeas I had been fascinated by the kaleidoscope effect that I'd seen online and in some publications . An unrelated Google search led me to a website that inspired me to look at this form of creativity in new and different ways. From there, I began creating mandala images. Yep. Serendipity is all about making discoveries by accident, when we least expect them. It's finding something wonderful when you were looking for something else. It's those experiences you have when you stop, breathe and notice. In those moments you remember who you really are and what you're truly meant to be doing in this world. When I started creating these images I noticed that they brought forth a deeper sense of my self. With each emerging image, I felt the energy of the mandala at a deep level. This felt sense included the visual beauty of the image and a message the image conveyed.
A Synergy of Nature, Intuition, and Technology. Co-creative Mandalas are the synergy of Nature, the plants that I grow or observe in my surroundings; Intuition, the deep knowing we all have; and Technology, the digital photographs that I take and electronically transform into mandalas. Mandala means "magic circle" in Sanskrit and symbolically represents the cosmos, a microcosm of the universe. We find circles in nature (the bird's nest, the planets and stars), in Buddhist practices, in Native American traditions, and in Christian cathedrals. Across cultures and spiritual practices people have been drawn to circles in deep and meaningful ways, for their healing energy and for self-reflection. Co-Creative Mandalas integrate your sacred self with sacred universal energy.
Gardener of the soil and of the soul. For over 60 years I've been a gardener of the soil and of the soul, connecting with Nature and all its beauty and seeking ways to integrate and extend co-created, beautiful gardens. I learned to love nature, about gardening, tilling the soil and tending to plants (particularly flowers), from my grandmother. I learned about inner realms, the law of attraction, and listening to my intuition from my mother, a gifted clairvoyant. I’m learning about photography from my partner, Don. He and photography are teaching me patience and reminding me of the beauty of being in the moment. Both have helped me take a step back and breathe in the world, rather than charging ahead and missing it all. Using the technology that transforms my photographs into Co-Creative Mandalas is a magical experience. I use these gifts when co-creating personalized mandalas. The vibrant image that reveals itself connects you with the joyful blessings of nature and to your inspired life.
